International Funeral Repatriation
We coordinate the documents, embalming, zinc-lined coffin, air cargo and customs needed to bring a relative who died abroad home to Turkey, or to send someone who died in Turkey abroad. After arrival we transport the deceased by road to the burial place.
We manage international files from Ankara and collect at Ankara Esenboğa or Istanbul Airport.

Repatriation to Turkey
The most common case is a Turkish citizen who died in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France or Austria. The process has two parts: formalities in the country of death and those after arrival in Turkey.
In the country of death, a local death certificate, an international death certificate, a corpse passport (laissez-passer) from the competent authority, an embalming certificate and a sealed zinc-lined coffin are required. These are usually handled by a local funeral director, and the Turkish consulate completes its part.
Many families abroad are members of a funeral assistance fund or have insurance. If so, call them first, as they may cover some or all costs and start the process with their partner firm.

From the airport to the burial place
The deceased usually arrives at the cargo terminal of Istanbul Airport or Ankara Esenboğa Airport. After customs clearance we collect the deceased and take them in a refrigerated vehicle to the burial place in Turkey.
From Turkey to abroad
Sending someone abroad requires the death certificate, a multilingual death certificate (Formula C) from the civil registry, embalming by an authorised physician, a sealed zinc-lined coffin and an international transport document from the provincial health directorate. Some countries also require consular approval.
