Intercity Funeral Transport in Turkey

We transport the deceased between Ankara and every province in Turkey, so a relative who died in Ankara can be buried in their home town, or a relative who died elsewhere can be brought to Ankara. We collect the deceased in a refrigerated vehicle and take them, with all documents, to the mosque or cemetery at the destination.

Our teams set out from Sincan, Ankara. We plan transport from Ankara to every province and from every province to Ankara.

What This Service Includes

  • • Refrigerated vehicle suitable for funeral transport
  • • Burial permit and transport document checked before departure
  • • Advance arrangements with the mosque, cemetery and municipality at the destination
  • • A family member may travel in the vehicle
  • • Road and air options compared for distant provinces

How does intercity funeral transport work?

First a physician confirms the death and a burial permit is issued. For deaths in hospital, the hospital prepares it; for deaths at home, the family doctor, or outside office hours the municipal physician or 112, is called. If the deceased will be taken to another province, a funeral transport document is required in addition to the burial permit.

Washing and shrouding usually take place before departure, in the province where the death occurred. If the family prefers this to happen at the destination, we plan for that too. Because it affects travel and burial times, we agree on it during the first call.

Once the documents are ready, we collect the deceased from the hospital morgue, the home or the Forensic Medicine Institute and set off. We stay in touch with the family by phone during the journey and update the expected arrival time.

Which documents are needed?

Complete documents are the most important step in avoiding delays on the road and at the destination. We check the following with you before departure.

  • ✓ Burial permit (issued by the hospital or the physician who confirmed the death)
  • ✓ Funeral transport document (for transport to another province)
  • ✓ Identity details of the deceased
  • ✓ ID of the relative receiving the deceased
  • ✓ In forensic cases, prosecutor's approval and release papers from Forensic Medicine

By road or by air?

For provinces up to about 700–800 km from Ankara, road transport is usually the most practical option: the deceased travels in one vehicle, without transfers, all the way to the destination. The table below shows approximate travel times for our most frequent routes.

For distant provinces, such as in eastern and south-eastern Turkey, the deceased can also be sent by air. We then hand over at the airport and arrange collection at the destination airport and onward transport to the burial site. We decide together which option is faster and more suitable, based on flight times and the planned burial time.

How is this different from the municipal service?

On application with the death certificate, the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality also transports the deceased to another province free of charge (Alo 188). If this covers your needs, we will tell you so on the first call.

A private service makes a difference when you want the vehicle to leave at a time you choose, arrangements made with the mosque and cemetery at the destination before departure, a relative travelling along, paperwork handled for you and one coordinator from start to finish.

How is the price determined?

The price depends on distance, vehicle waiting time, additional services such as washing and shroud, and whether air transport is used. We explain the price item by item by phone before any work begins; nothing is added afterwards.
